Mobile Social Shoppers – Overview Introduction: Over the past six months over 200 million smartphones have been sold globally. Consumers, equipped with these web-enabled, social media-friendly devices are engaging on the Web more frequently than ever before. This new study shows the impact that mobile smartphone devices and ubiquitous access to social media are having on the consumer shopping experience. Methodology: This study analyzed 16,500 publicly available consumer conversations on microblogs across the retail and restaurant industries posted during Q1 2011 where consumers were expressing opinions about their shopping experiences and identified specific comments that were posted from the store location. Five national retailers and five national restaurants was collected to serve as the sample set for analysis. Key Findings: •  Nearly 25% of shopping experience conversations are posted online while consumers are in-store •  Staff interaction is the most frequently cited activity within regards to shopping experience •  Consumers most often seek assistance from friends on social media when first entering store © 2011 ListenLogic LLC! 1 Analysis of Posts from 12/1/10 through 2/28/10!

Findings – Interacting With Staff Leads In-Store ConversationAmong identifiable in-store shopping experience conversations, the largest percentage of posts are madewhile browsing (products, menu items, etc.) with staff interaction experience as the most frequently cited topic.
