Taxis, buses and walking provide alternatives to drunk driving but each has its drawbacks. Visit Designated Drivers to learn more about a new alternative that could save your money and your life.
Alcohol-related deaths increasing among college students
Have you ever said “I love you” to a perfect stranger after your school football team won the championship? If so, you may be the next student to die in a drunk driving accident. Let us do the driving for you…in your own car. Click here for more information.
Designated Drivers to partner with MADD to end drunk driving
Join us Saturday, May 31, when Designated Drivers will team up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. A silent auction will be held at Bandimere Speedway to raise funds that will help support educational programs. Fines for driving under the influence range from $100 to $1,500, jail time ranges from two days to one year, and community service from 24 hours to 120 hours. These costs don’t include lawyer’s fees, increases in insurance and the possibility of losing a driver’s license forever. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, a DUI conviction could cost up to $8,866.
Designated Drivers LLP is a new service in the Denver Metro area that could help you avoid DUI and other life-threatening costs. Established in 2007, Designated Drivers is the only service in the area that offers rides home for restaurant and bar patrons as an inexpensive, safe alternative to drunk driving. This unique service uses the customer’s own car and is similar to a bike messenger service.
At this time, Designated Drivers services three areas in and around Denver. These areas include lower downtown Denver, the Denver Technological Center (DTC), and a portion of north Denver. Detailed service area maps are available on our “Maps” page. The service runs Thursday-Saturday 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 6 p.m. to midnight. Service charges are $3 per mile for the first five miles and additional distance is $0.30 per quarter mile.
Designated Drivers provides safety that is unique to the public transportation industry by offering door-to-door service without the need to retrieve a vehicle at a later time. Driver teams meet customers at their location and while one driver follows, the other takes the customer home in his or her own car.
Besides offering an alternative to drunk driving, Designated Drivers frequently supports programs that help educate the public about the risks associated with drunk driving. Corporate sponsors of Designated Drivers include Budweiser Brewing Company and Rock Bottom Brewery and partners include Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
Link Copy for “Designated Drivers partners with MADD in the fight against drunk driving”
May 1, 2003 – Morrison, CO – Every 39 minutes someone in America is killed by a drunk driver. Designated Drivers is teaming up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to help raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO will host a silent auction on May 31, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds for educational programs. In addition to the auction, the event will include educational booths and activities. Celebrity appearances are scheduled throughout the day.
Trends in alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities are showing that people are becoming more responsible about driving under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, the rate of under-age drinking and alcohol-related incidents among college students is on the rise. Designated Drivers and MADD hope to help combat these destructive practices by educating younger generations about the risks involved when alcohol and cars mix.
Established in 2007, Designated Drivers is the only service in the area that offers rides home for restaurant and bar patrons as an inexpensive, safe alternative to drunk driving. Besides offering an alternative to drunk driving, Designated Drivers frequently supports programs that help educate the public about the risks associated with drunk driving.
MADD was established in 1980 to help those whose lives were destroyed by a drunk driver. Since then, MADD has expanded its work to include aid to victims of violence and prevention of underage drinking. The partnership between Designated Drivers and MADD is a strategic move by the companies to expand educational programs in areas that are not frequently reached.
For more information about the silent auction event, visit http://www.safedrive.com/silentauction.
From: Lisa Jorgensen [mailto:lisaj@dd.com]Sent: Wed 4/30/2008 10:17 PMTo: Karen MoralesCc: Jamie HaneySubject: Brochure and Web Copy for Designated Drivers
Ms. Morales, Please see attached brochure and web copy for our company. The brochure is an educational material to be used primarily in our media kits but could also be used as advertising copy in and around the Denver area. Besides educational information about the dangers of drunk driving, this informational packet contains all the information pertinent to our business including contact information, service areas, hours of operation, and costs. I have also included three pieces of copy for the web. The first is for placement on the online sports section of Denver area news websites. Its purpose is to raise awareness of our business to those who may be frequenting sports bars. The second is for placement on college websites in the Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, and Greeley areas. The purpose here is again, to raise awareness of our business but to a different market segment. Finally, the third is for placement on the online society pages of the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News. The purpose is to garner interest and attendance to our event where future customers can learn more about us. Please review and submit your changes and/or suggestions. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Lisa Jorgensen
