• Epaphras
Meaning: lovely
spoken of by Paul (Col. 1:7; 4:12) as "his dear fellow-servant," and "a faithful minister of Christ"
He was thus evidently with him at Rome when he wrote to the Colossians. He was a distinguished disciple, and probably the founder of the Colossian church. He is also mentioned in the Epistle to Philemon (1:23), where he is called by Paul his "fellow-prisoner."
• Duties/Definition of a Saint  Eph 5:3 But evil acts of the flesh and all unclean things, or desire for others' property, let it not even be named among you, as is right for saints 7
• What do Saints (we) do?    Col 1:28,29 whom we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, so that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. For which I also labor, striving according to the working of Him who works in me in power Mat 5:48 Therefore be perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect. 1Pe 1:15, 16 you also become holy in all conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." Be Blam eles s Aim on fecti Per Be Ho l 8 y
• Being Perfect?  1Co 14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men 5046 (perfect) Don’t be a child!  Be a child! 9
• As saints walk worthy of the Lord   Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding , Col 1:10 that you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every work and increasing in the knowledge of God, Walk in Christ 10
• How do saints walk worthy of the Lord?    Eph 4:1-3 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the calling with which you are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 5:2-5 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, …. For let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness not be once named among you, as becomes saints, neither baseness, foolish talking, jesting, which are not becoming, but rather giving of thanks. Lowliness Meekness Long Suffering forbearing one another in love endeavouring to keep the 11unity
• Saints are Baptized & Circumcised    Col 2:11 in whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ, Col 2:12 buried with Him in baptism, in whom also you were raised through the faith of the working of God, raising Him from the dead. Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 12
• Circumcision (Col 2:11)  “Putting off” the body of the sins of the flesh SIN Baptism (Col 2:12 )  “Burying” the body of sin  “Resurrected” to a new life Before (Col 2:13 )  Dead because of SIN  Uncircumcised Now (Col 2:13)  made alive together with Him,  Forgiven you all trespasses Are you living a circumcised life? 13
• Saints seek ONLY those things which are above   Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth 1Jo 2:15-17 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he who does the will of God abides forever. Be Spiritually minded Heavenly Be mindful of things above 14
• We are Dead People – ‘Live’ like one!     Col 3:3-5 For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God . When Christ our Life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness (which is idolatry), Col 3:8 But now also put off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, shameful speech out of your mouth. 15
• Dead to Sin, Alive to Christ  Col 3:9 Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his deeds Saint 1 Old Person Do not lie to one another Saint 2 16
• Living a resurrected life  Col 3:10-17         Having put on the new, having been renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender feelings of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, forbearing one another and forgiving yourselves, if anyone has a complaint against any. As Christ forgave you, so also you do. Above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. 17
• Living a resurrected life  Col 3:10-17    And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you also are called in one body, and be thankful. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And everything, whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Word Word 18
