History of MP3s - Presentation Transcript

    1. History of MP3s
      • MP3 is short for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, It is a form of digital music encoding.
      • In recent years, MP3s have begun to replace CDs as the main form of music media.
      • The MP3 format was first invented by a team of European inventors.
    2. Digital Distribution: The End of the Music Industry?
      • Part of the controversy related to the MP3 encoding method is that MP3 files are incredibly easy to share and distribute online.
      • The action of distributing copyrighted music via MP3 form for free is called “file-sharing”.
      • File sharing is considered an illegal action.
      • This is part of the controversy surrounding MP3 format files.
      • Some believe that file sharing is ruining the music industry.
    3. Musical Anarchy or Audio Democracy Music is widely regarded as one of the most famous of creative art forms and music is widely enjoyed around the world. MP3 Players allow music listeners even more freedom in their respective art form. MP3 Players can come in any shape or size.
    4. Supporting the File Share Cause
      • I for one see no major problem with “minor” file-sharing. What I mean by this is that I don’t think there is a problem with one person letting a couple of friends download one song from a CD.
      • I don’t agree with people downloading entire albums and putting them onto their MP3 players though. It is this kind of action that I believe will ruin the music industry.
    5. MP3 vs. CD, Why I choose MP3 over CD.
      • The reason why I choose my songs in MP3 format over songs in CD format is because MP3s can be transported easily and you can buy individual songs instead of the whole CD.
      • Another reason why I choose MP3 format over CD is because MP3’s can be played from any computer, as long as you have a way to access the file.
      • Currently sales of CDs have decreased somewhat due to the recent and quick advance of MP3 formatted files.
    6. In the Name of Music
      • MP3 files are more versatile than CDs because you can edit the information of an MP3 file.
      • Information that can be edited includes song artist information, song title, the lyrics of the song, and much more.
    7. The final fall of the CD
      • CDs have fallen in sales recently of course due to the rise of the MP3.
      • Many people believe that MP3 formatted files are better than CDs for many reasons, some of which I have already listed.
    8. The Last Song: MP3 VS CD Finale
      • In closing, I believe that MP3 files are just overall more convenient and reliable than CDs when it comes to music.
      • In my opinion CDs are nothing but a thing of the past and that MP3 files are the next wave and the future.
