  3. 3. Philanthropy  has  been  transformed  into  digital  social   good  by  providing  worldwide  opportuni-es  to  help.    
  4. 4. Kiva  is  an   excellent   example  of  an   NPO  using  social   media  strategy   to  promote   digital   philanthropy.

  7. 7. Kiva  inspires   people  who   would  like  to   help  globally   from  the   comfort  of  their   local  homes.    
  8. 8. How  it  works:     Make  a  loan   Get  repaid   Repeat!  
  9. 9. Borrowers  can   choose  who   they  would  like   to  help  from   thousands  of   different   projects.    
  10. 10. Currently,  there   are  3,198  loans   available.  
  11. 11. Whether  its  funding  money  to  buy  a  goat  to  use  to  sell  milk   products  or  seeds  for  vegetaOon,  every  dollar  is  lent  to  a   specific  person  in  need  to  help  them  with  their  cause.    
  12. 12. There  is  an  opOonal  fee  of  $3.75  to  support  the  organizaOon,   because  100%  of  all  loans  are  given  to  the  borrowers.  
  13. 13. This  kind  of  donaOon-­‐based  approach  is  fundamental   to  the  company’s  success  and  borrowers  achieving   op-mal  fundraising.     4 seconds between loans $4,721,950 lent 7,556 new lenders joined 65,082 lenders made a loan 11,069 borrowers funded
  14. 14. They  have  expanded  the  social  good  footprint  through  not   only  people,  but  organiza-ons.    
  15. 15. Kiva,  a  grassroots  movement   that  was  founded  in  2005,     has  generated  $564,574,275   in  loans  from  1,173,429     Kiva  leaders  with  a  98.86%   repayment  rate.
