2. Jessie J is represented quite gothic by her black hair, black lips, black eye makeup, black
nails and black top. Her style has been chosen to make her look unique because she is
different compared to a lot of other female artistes e.g. Katy Perry, Madonna and Beyoncé.
The colours used in the advert are black, white and gold, which all compliment each other
well. The gold text against the black stands out and gives a good contrast. The black in the
advert makes Jessie J’s face stand out more and it also accentuates the text that is in gold
and white.
Hair short bobbed hair cut is Jessie J’s signature hair style making the audience straight away
recognise whose album this advert belongs to. Her fringe almost covers her eyes giving her a
sense of mystery that can be reflected in the actual album – the audience may not know
what to expect. The advert is laid out with a large image of Jessie J that takes up the
majority of the album making her the centre of attention, it has no other background setting
or props which draws all of the audiences attention to her.
3. Through the album advert, it is hard to tell what genre the
album is as it has a mixture of gothic elements and femininity –
through the artists name. The genre of the album is actually a
mixture of R&B, soul and pop which would be difficult to
convey all the genre’s in one album advert. The text below the
image of Jessie J highlights the well known singles that the
audience will recognise and be familiar with and this gives the
audience an insight on what to expect in the album. The text
“includes the #1 international smash” also attracts the wider
audience as the single “Price Tag” is internationally enjoyed.
