  • Nice presentation thank you for sharing. I agree with the statement in slide #5. That is why when doing business using social media marketers must interact with their clients without appearing to be selling a product.

      In the past we would ask a friend, look in the phone book, etc., but today what do you do when you want to find something…

      Do you want to be on the first page of a Google Search or the 15th page of a Google Search?
      When you appear on the first page of a Google Search, we say you have Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Social Media can help with that.

      a typical search. You want
      your business to come up
      near the top of the list
      like Pho Hoafor two
      reasons:
      Easy for customer
      Instills confidence
      Even if you have good
      content , but are on page
      15, your customer doesn’t
      automatically trust it
      because it’s lower in the
      search.
      Note that this first listing
      for Pho Hoa isn’t their
      website. It’s a listing.

      One way to quickly get your business to the first page is listing it on Google Places. It only
      takes a few minutes to complete the profile, but as you can see here, again Pho Hoa comes
      up at the top because they have a Google Places listing.

      The Google Places profile offers great information for your customer, such as hours of
      operation, location (map), parking, payment, and reviews.

      Google Places pulls reviews
      from around the internet
      found on sites such as
      Yelp, Zagat.com, and
      Urbanspoon.com, and
      conveniently locates them
      in one place for your
      customer.

      Even though Google Places will pull the reviews from other sources, it’s important for you to
      complete your profiles on these sites because these will also come up in a Google Search.
      Again, you have the opportunity to share great information with your future customers.

      One of the biggest
      trends is people
      “checking in” to places.
      When they check in on
      sites like Facebook, a
      message goes to their
      connections about what
      they are doing.
      For your business this
      is a great way to get
      some free advertising.
      If you have a Facebook
      page, it’s even better.

      you can see how many
      people have “checked-in”
      to the restaurant.
      A business Facebook page
      gives your customer
      information, and a place
      to connect with your
      business even prior to
      purchasing.

      pages aren’t just for
      restaurants, services
      can also take advantage
      of this social media.
      Another benefit of
      being on social media
      is many times you can
      connect several sites.
      For example you can see
      how The Dorchester
      House has connected
      their Facebook page to
      their Twitter account.

      Twitter is valuable to a business
      because it offers the ability to
      connect and communicate with
      current and future customers or
      clients in real time.
      You can answer their questions,
      have a conversation, share
      information . Your followers
      choose to get your information
      because they find it valuable.
      They then share it with their
      network. It’s exposure for small
      businesses
