  • URL OF SITE• What does the URL says about the purpose of the web site? .com = business/marketing, e-commerce .edu = academic, colleges/universities .gov = U.S. government produced .org = organization, usually charitable, religious or a lobbying group• Other URLs• .mil = military site .net = network
  • OBJECTIVITY• Biases and Affiliations of Author or Organization • Language Use [emotional versus factual] • www.peta.org www.now.org
  • EMOTIONAL APPEAL• Advocacy sites often have emotional appeal through weighted language
