    • HORROR FILM Initial Ideas Liam Hedley
    • IDEA 1 A wealthy, estranged woman purchases an old gothichouse in the countryside and becomes so fixated on proving that the rumours of it being haunted are false, that she discovers an old tale of the suicidal death of a previousowner due to poltergeists that possess the upstairs bedroom. The tale begins to consume her taking over every aspect of her life. One day the woman finds herself mentally trapped in the bedroom, as she is convinced that she is living within the tale; the poltergeists driving her to a state of insanity where she believes she cannot leave the bedroom for theyhave locked it. However, the door is open and everything is afigment of her imagination. She too is driven to the point of suicide, however this could be left for the viewer to work out, adding enigma. ©
    • IDEA 2 A young man who is stuck in a dead-end, boring and lonely job at a local train station, encounters various visions of a ghostly spirit that haunts him. Nobody else can see the spirit which leads to the man killing himself on the train tracks. As a train „runs over‟ the man without the driver realising, the man wakes up and realises it “was all a dream”. However, the man keeps experiencing this dream repeatedly, and more frequently as time going on. One day the man wakes up to realise that his dreams are actually reality and his reality is a dream. As the apparent “visions” of being run over by a traincontinue, this actual reality eats into his dream world and he dies in his dream.(This plot is highly confusing and would indeed adhere to the psychological sub-genre and the fact people are scared of darkness/night time, etc. Also, it contains element of “physical horror” which broadens our audience with this product.) ©
    • IDEA 3 In a circle of friends whenever one member of the group attempts to ringsomebody for some unknown reason the call is automatically diverted through to the phone of somebody that they know to be dead. The deceased peoplealways answer the phone. The group embark upon a quest to find the answers behind everything with fatal consequences…(The use of mobile phones in this plot would connect to a modern, teenage audience as this age group are often associated with technology and such devices, etc.) ©
