What is the difference between health and
wellness?
Health: Health is the combination of
physical, mental/emotional and social
well-being.
What does it mean to be healthy? Being
healthy means striving to be the best you
can be at any given time.
3. Health vs. Wellness
A person with a balanced life is said to
have a high degree of wellness.
Wellness: is an overall state of well-being,
or total health.
Overall, in order to achieve wellness it is a
lifelong commitment to physical,
mental/emotional, and social health.
4. Promoting YOUR Health
What you decide to do everyday affects your life.
Everyone has habits whether they are good or bad,
which can affect your life.
Your habits or lifestyle factors are your personal
behaviors that relate to the way you live. These help
determine your level of health.
A key to your wellness is prevention—practicing
health and safety habits to remain free of disease and
injury. Such as wearing a seat belt or applying
sunscreen are a few examples.
5. Promoting YOUR Health
These are consider lifestyle factors
Getting 8-10 hours of sleep each night
Eating a healthy breakfast each day
Variety of nutritious foods each day (eating from the food
groups)
Being physically active for at least 20 minutes a day
Maintain healthy weight, avoid tobacco, alcohol, and other
drugs
Abstain from sexual activity before marriage
Manage stress
Positive relationships
Practice safe behaviors to prevent injuries

Health education provides accurate health
information to help people make healthy choices.
The main goal is to provide people with tools that
will help people live long, energetic and productive
lives.
