  7. 7.  Use the self service machines  You’ll need your UCard and Library PIN  Normal loan is 1 week for most people. The loan period for heavily requested books is shorter  You can renew books provided no one else has requested them  Fines are charged on overdue books. You can avoid these by checking ‘myLibrary Account’ regularly  If the book you want is already on loan, or missing from the shelf, Request it online by clicking the blue button on Star.
  8. 8.  Yes! Use myQuickLinks in MUSE  If you don’t turn up for your booked slot, the computer will be free for others to use after 10 minutes  All PCs in the Information Commons will log users off after 20 mins of inactivity  Keep belongings with you at all times – we’ll remove stuff left unattended
  9. 9.  The University provides Networked Filestore (U:drive) to all students.  Save your work to the U:drive - it’s accessible on or off campus and is secure  Do not work directly from a memory stick – you could lose work
  10. 10.  Swipe your Ucard through the unit next to the printer/copier  You have one account for both printing and copying  Add credit online or use value loaders  Print from any student PC on campus and collect at any printer  You can also print from your own computer using the wireless network
  11. 11.  Definitely in silent study areas – but consider others wherever you are  Keep phones in silent mode and if you need to talk, try not to disturb others  If you want to work as a group in the IC, book a group study room  Other sites also have silent and group areas
  12. 12.  Hot and cold drinks in non- spill containers are fine  Hot food can be eaten in IC café and cold food in designated snack areas  Help us keep the buildings clean & tidy and help do your bit to save the planet by putting rubbish in the recycling bins
  13. 13.  Ask at any information point  Pick up a phone on one of the business units and speak to a member of staff 24hrs a day  Access CiCS Helpdesk Self Service via SSiD tab in MUSE
