  • 2. Aeration
    • For Aeration we shook and stirred our dirty water.
    • Aeration lets in the oxygen and it helps bacteria live.
    • Aeration helps the bacteria eat organic pollutants.
  • 3. Settle
    • Allows us to remove undissolved contaminants.
    • It also allows us to skim the top of the water for floating particles.
    • Allows us to get the sludge out of the bottom of the water.
  • 4. Bar Screen
    • It filters out the really big pollutants, such as a Babe Ruth candy bar or a metal clasp.
    • It got some of the particles on the top of the water that we couldn’t get.
  • 5. Alum
    • Alum makes contaminant particles group together.
    • We put alum in our water to clump the dirt particles together.
  • 6. Filter
    • It was layered with the finest sand grain to the roughest grain.
    • There was sand, small rocks, pebbles and the finest sand.
  • 7. Distillation
    • Distillation evaporates the water and collects it without the contaminants.
    • The water evaporate and the water goes through a tube to the beaker in ice water leaving behind contaminations.
  • 8. Chlorination
    • You put chlorine in the your water after your have distilled it.
    • The chlorination kills the pathogens in the water.

  • 12. Hazardous Waste
    • Corrosive- is one that will destroy damage another substance in which it comes in contact with.
    • Radioactive- is the process in which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by emitting ionizing particles and radiation
    • Explosive- is a material that either is chemically of otherwise energetically unstable or produces a sudden expansion of the material.
    • Toxic- is the degree to which a substance is able to damage an exposed organism.
  • 13. Hazardous Waste that we found
    • Lead beebees because lead is hazardous.
