  • According to the 2010 National Association of Realtors Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, first time buyers expect to live in their house for ten years while repeat buyers plan to stay 15 years. The typical seller in 2010 had lived in their house for eight years.
  • A recent New York Times/CBS News poll found that nearly nine out of ten Americans say homeownership is an important part of the American dream.A poll by the National Association of Homebuilders found that 95% of homeowners say they are happy with their decision to own a home and believe that owning their home is important. According to the US Census Bureau 2005-2009 ACS 5-year Estimates, the Minnesota Median Housing Value of Owner-Occupied Housing Units is $207,000.
  • A poll by the National Association of Homebuilders found that 75% of voters say that owning a home is the best long-term investment they can make. According to the 2010 National Association of Realtors Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, 85% of first time homebuyers believed that it was a good financial investment and 77% said it was as good as or better investment than stocks.
  • According to the March American Express Spending & Saving Tracker, 64% of homeowners say they will invest in renovation projects this year at an average budget of $3,400.
