  • 1. MIKE THE MISSING TURTLE
  • 2. It all started when our friend Elizabeth brought a turtle named Mike, to school.
  • 3.
    • Her Dad found Mike on his mail route.
  • 4.
    • Everyone got a chance to look at him.
    • Did we tell you he was a box turtle? Everybody loved him!
  • 5.
    • We left him in his box when we went to Art.
  • 6.
    • When we returned, he was gone!
    • He was not in his box!
  • 7.
    • We looked everywhere! We used a flashlight and looked under and behind things. We were so sad we could not find Mike.
  • 8.
    • Our teacher looked for him after school,
    • but she didn’t find him.
    • Monday morning Mike was still missing.
  • 9.
    • Our teacher left carrots
    • and water out for Mike.
  • 10.
    • That night our Gym teacher came with a flashlight to look for Mike. The custodian looked for him, too. Mike was still missing!
  • 11.
    • Tuesday, we thought we would never see Mike again.
    • Our teacher left food and water on the floor.
    • The custodian looked. Mike was still missing!
  • 12. Wednesday morning, Mike was still missing. That afternoon, while we were taking a math test, our teacher spotted Mike.
  • 13. He was sitting in the middle of the rug!
  • 14. We were all so happy Mike was found!
  • 15. ABOUT THE AUTHORS The students in Mrs. Cristiano’s second grade class wrote this story, after finding Mike the turtle.
