Install Programs / .dmg 3

Install Programs / .dmg • .dmg files are Disk Image files, creating a temporary extra disc • in Finder mount the .dmg file (by double clicking it) • copy the application (.app) to your application folder (click and drag) • unmount the .dmg file (click the small arrow next to it in Finder) 3

Install Programs / .pkg • in Finder double click on the .pkg or .mpkg ﬁle • follow the instructions for installation • note: .pkg and .mpkg programs always need to be installed with a password 4

Download Torrents • download a .torrent file • open the .torrent file in Transmission • wait for the download to finish 5

Print to PDF 6

Print to PDF • almost anything can be printed to PDF • in Program (Firefox/ Safari), choose Print • choose printer Adobe PDF • choose Save As PDF • choose folder for download 6

Add Album cover & info to iTunes • download cover image (best found on Amazon.com) • in iTunes, highlight song(s) and press ⌘ and i • change song/album information and add Artwork (double click white space) • press OK and wait for songs to be changed 7

Convert .avi to .mp4 • iPod video’s need to be in .mp4 format • movies are usually in .avi format • download program iSquint (isquint.org) • choose Go Nuts quality • choose download folder • start! 8

What folders? • Apple Leopard has predefined folders • Downloads • Pictures • Documents • Music ✴ ✴ ✴ all these can be found via Finder downloaded files usually go automatically to Downloads iTunes files from cd or bought go to Music > iTunes > iTunes Music • ✴ imported images go to Pictures > iPhoto Library Movies • Desktop 9

Shortcut keys & codes 10

Shortcut keys & codes • ⌘ is the same as CTRL in windows (⌘+C / ⌘+V / ⌘+P / ⌘+S) • closing a window ⌘+W • closing a program ⌘+Q • ⌘ with TAB is the same as ALT +TAB (move between programs, not windows) 10

Mac Spotlight? • you can ﬁnd anything you’ve lost on your Mac (even old stuff in Time Machine) • top right hand corner, click the magnifying glass • enter name or extension of document and wait for results 11
