      • Exploring Google Home Services
      Google Calendar is a part of the Google online services. Visit http://www.google.com/igto explore mail, calendar, and other functions.
      Google mail and calendar are the two functions of Google that this presentation implements.
      • Creating a Gmail account
      If you do not already have an account with Google, select ‘Create an account’ under the member login on the Gmail welcome page.
      • Log into Google Calendar using your Gmail username and password.
      • Setting E-mail notifications
      Notifications can be set to automatically be sent to your Gmail inbox.
      • Downloading the syncing client from Google.
      Type “Google calendar sync” into your Google’s search engine, or visit http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955to download the client.
      Be sure your download is from Google.com!
      Don’t download from any site that you do not recognize!
      • Run the Google Calendar sync .exe program.
      (If in a .ZIP file….
      Double-click
      … extract before running!)
      • Follow the prompts to install the syncing software on your hard drive.
      • Click ‘I Agree’ and wait for the program to install.
      • Use the default location to have the program install to your Program Files folder.
      • Starting the Sync
      The sync program will be under ‘All Programs’ in your Start Menu.
      After setting up your preferences, the sync icon will appear in your task tray.
      • Adding a Gmail Account to Outlook’s Mail Manager
      • Under tools in the Outlook main menu, select ‘Account Settings’
      • Click ‘New’
      • POP and IMAP
      • One of the benefits of using Microsoft Outlook 2007 is the ease with which you can add e-mail accounts.
      • Outlook ‘07 does not require you to enter your POP and IMAP information, but version ‘03 does.
    2. Outlook calendar view
      Each of Outlook’s features can be set up individually.
      You can also set up and share multiple calendars.
      Outlook has many functions: e-correspondence and archiving, contact records, tasks, and calendar. The selection buttons are in the lower right corner.
      • Creating a Google Calendar Event
      • In the Google calendar home, click ‘Create Event’ in the upper left corner.
      • Set the details of the event in the options window.
      • Sharing the Event
      • You can type in individual addresses, or select from the Outlook Contact Book management system.
      • You can send Google calendar events to people who don’t have Gmail as well.
      • Viewing the Event
      Click on the event in your calendar view to examine it.
      You can add guests or edit the event from the viewing window.
      • Send/Receive Outlook Correspondence
      Go to ‘Send/Receive All’ under the Outlook Actions menu.
      Send/Receive will update your inbox according to your preferences.
      • Wrapping It Up
      Using the Sync Client, Google will automatically deliver the event to your Outlook inbox the nest time it syncs.
      Your Outlook calendar will be updated automatically, or you can confirm the event manually. You can set Outlook to automatically accept your appointments, but ask before accepting any shared appointments.
