    •   Expansion  Booklet:  Specialized  Units   What  is  an  Specialized  Unit?   Specialized  Unit  is  an  entity  of  AIESEC  in  Czech  Republic  responsible  for  disseminating  their   program  and  projects  in  smaller  markets  and  would  not  be  able  to  receive  a  local  committee   of  AIESEC.  Through  SU,  AIESEC  in  Czech  Republicl  won  capacity  to  expand  its  reach,  leading   development  and  opportunities  for  students  and  companies  would  not  normally  be   impacted.   Features  of  an  SU:   As  Specialized  Units  are  located  in  smaller  markets,  its  structure  must  be  compatible  with  its   needs,  or  as  lean  as  possible.  The  secret  of  a  good  operating  unit  is  its  efficiency   (Organizational  Structure  /  Results  generated).   An  Specialized  Unit  must  be  very  focused  on  their  ability  to  exploit  the  market,  it  is  not   recommended  to  use  one  SU  the  4  programs  of  AIESEC,  but  rather  focus  on  what  will   generate  more  results  and  more  efficiency  for  the  entity.  If  the  local  market  offers   opportunities  in  other  programs,  the  SU  should  come  to  consensus  with  your  LC  Extender  to   assess  the  possibility  of  extending  the  portfolio  of  programs,  it  is  important  to  be  evaluated   the  maturity  of  the  SU  existing  programs  to  start  other.   It  is  important  to  emphasize  that  the  moment  one  Operational  Unit  is  created,  the  direction   is  that  this  will  always  be  an  SU,  there  is  no  possibility  of  a  change  in  the  type  of  entity,  such   as  becoming  a  Expansion  Initiative.   How  to  start  an  Specialized  Unit?   First,  you  need  to  contact  the  MC  (MCVP  Operations),  to  check  the  availability.  LC  needs  to   recruit  the  SUPil    and  give  all  the  necessary  support  to  start  running  operations  (this  include   trainings,  operational  visits  and  CEEDs).  It’s  advised  to  select  a  Local  Expansion  Manager   (LEM)  to  help  with  all  these  processes  and  also  work  tracking  the  SU  after  it.     Characteristics  of  an  Specialized  Unit  Market:   Specialized  Units  markets  are  characterized  by  having  a  large  potential  in  specific  programs,   may  offer  occasional  opportunities  in  programs  that  are  not  focused  entity.   It  is  very  important  to  note  that  the  purpose  of  an  Specialized  Unit  is  perform  as  much  as   possible,  even  having  the  results  of  high-‐volume,  does  not  mean  that  the  SU  may  become  a   Expansion  Initiative.  What  will  be  taken  into  consideration  is  the  market  in  which  it  operates   and  not  the  results.
