  • 1.   Expansion  Booklet:  Initiative  Group       What  is  an  Expansion  Initiative?     An  Expansion  Initiative  is  an  entity  of  AIESEC  in  Czech  Republic  responsible  for  starting  to  operate  AIESEC   programs  in  a  market  that  has  opportunities  to  host  a  Local  Committee  of  AIESEC  in  Czech  Republic.  An  EI  is  born   with  the  intention  to  become  a  Local  Committee.  Through  EI  AIESEC  in  Czech  Republic  increases  its  number  of   Local  Committees  in  Czech  Republic  getting  more  experience  and  generating  results  for  the  organization.       Characteristics  of  an  Expansion  Initiative       Expansion  Initiatives  are  located  in  markets  with  potential  to  receive  a  Local  Committee,  which  has  the  capacity   to  operate  all  AIESEC  programs.  Thus  the  organizational  structure  of  an  IE  is  formed  by  the  EIP,  VPs  OGX,  ICX,  TM   and  COMM,  it  is  recommended  that  an  EI  starts  its  operations  through  GCDP  programs,  so  it  can  get  the  maturity   required  to  GIP  programs.  In  the  early  EI  doesn’t  need  VP  FIN  because  of  their  few  operations,  the  EIP  will  be  the   financial  manager  in  first  instance.   For  EI  it  is  very  important  to  keep  focused  on  two  points:  creating  strong  leaders  to  develop  the  organization,  but   also  to  focus  on  results  to  achieve  progress  status.       Expansion  Initiative  President:       The  Expansion  Initiative  President  manages  the  Team  Leaders  Team  of  the  entity,  and  is  the  final  responsible  of   the  management  of  all  EI.   Job  Description  1   Manage  the  EI:  selection  of  TLPs,  training  and  coordinating  team  management,  guarantee  team  minimum Job  Description  2   Sell  the  expansion  product  to  universities  and  guarantee  a  relationship  between  entities   Job  Description  3   Guarantee  the  communication  and  tracking  between  LC,  LEM  an  EI   Job  Description  4   Helps  promote  and  sell  AIESEC  products  in  local  market   Job  Description  5   Planning  and  tracking  operations   Job  Description  6   Responsible  for  national  communication  between  the  expansion  network  and  apply  national  expansion   guidelines  on  the  entity   Accountable  to   LEM,  LCP   Duration  of  the  term   One  year   Required  skills   Proactive,  no  excuses  profile,  fast  learning,  communication  skills,  people  management,  processes  
  • 2.   management           LEM  –  Local  Expansion  Manager       The  Local  Expansion  Manager  is  the  person  at  the  LC  responsible  for  guaranteeing  the  communication  aligned   through  MC-­‐LC-­‐EI.       On  LC  side:       • • • Manage  Expansion  Processes;   Accountable  to  LCP;   Guarantee  effective  support  and  trainings  from  extensor  LC.       On  EI  side:       • • • • • • Manage  the  EI:  selection  of  TLPs,  training  and  coordinating  team  management;   Operational  visits;   Interaction  and  participation  on  Expansion  network;   University  relations;   Operational  tracking;   Positioning  of  AIESEC  products  in  local  market.       Job  Description  1   Tracking  TLPs  and  operations   Job  Description  2   Coaching  TLPs   Job  Description  3   Responsible  for  the  communication  between  EI  and  LC   Job  Description  4   Guarantee  that  both  entities,  EI  and  LC,  are  following  the  expected.  That  the  LC  is  giving  the  right   support  and  the  EI  is  showing  results   Job  Description  5   Responsible  for  give  national  guidelines  to  both  entities,  through  the  contact  with  expansion   network.  Provide  directions  aligned  to  national  strategies   Job  Description  6   At  least  2  operational  visits  during  the  6  month  term  
  • 3.       Characteristics  of  Expansion  Initiative  Market       Expansion  Initiatives  Markets  are  characterized  by  the  potential  to  become  a  Local  Committee,  therefore  all   programs  that  AIESEC  has  (TMP,  TLP,  and  GCDPs  GIPs).   It  is  very  important  to  emphasize  that  the  goal  of  an  Expansion  Initiative  is  perform  maximum  taking  into  account   the  objective  of  becoming  a  Local  Committee,  then  the  formation  of  its  leadership  is  crucial  for  the  sustainable   growth  of  the  organization.       Relationship  of  Expansion  Initiatives  with  Home  LC       The  role  of  Home  LC  for  an  EI  is  to  assist  in  leadership  development,  organizational  culture  and  achieving  results   in  the  development  of  their  status.   The  integration  of  the  two  entities  is  very  important  for  the  development  of  both.  On  the  one  hand  the  EI  needs   Home  LC  for  legal  issues  and  their  organizational  development,  this  role  being  well  done  for  sure  EI  will  perform   and  the  Home  LC  will  benefit  from  the  results  obtained  by  the  EI  and  get  a  chance  to  expand  the  experiences  of   AIESEC  to  more  realities.   As  a  basis  for  a  good  job  and  relationship  to  the  authorities,  follows  a  Statement  of  Commitment  with  important   points  that  entities  should  considerate.  Remembering  that  the  Statement  of  Commitment  provides  inputs  with   important  points  that  can  be  adapted  in  the  local  entities.       Statement  of  Commitment       -­‐  Planning       •  Presence  in  the  Home  LC,  Replan  and  LTV  of  the  EI;   •  Planning  for  the  individual  Entity  Expansion;   •  Minimum  Percentage  representation  of  the  results  of  Home  LC  (according  to  the  potential  of  each  entity   expansion);   •  EI  and  Home  LC  exchange  Reports  by  quarter;  
  • 4.   •  In  the  case  of  EIs,  starting  operations  through  programs  GCDP  to  gain  maturity  and  then   start  operations  in  GIP;   •  Set  calendar  with  all  events;   •  Support  the  education  of  EI  in  all  processes  of  each  program.       -­‐  Elections       •  Home  LC  has  the  right  to  vote   •  Have  an  Elections  Calendar  of  the  entities.       -­‐  Financial  Management       •  Initial  investment  by  the  Home  LC;   •  Within  the  Bank  Account  of  the  Home  LC,  have  a  sub-­‐account  in  the  name  of  the  Entity  Expansion,  so  you  can   have  access  to  their  capital  directly;   •  Budget  for  Entities  Expansion;   •  Worksheet  joint  so  that  all  entities  can  track  your  finances;   •  Support  for  investments;   •  Report  monthly  or  per  quarter  between  entities;   •  Home  LC  train  and  monitor  the  management  of  their  Financial  Entities  Expansion.    -­‐  Organizational  structure  of  Expansion  Initiative       •  The  decision  of  the  structure  to  be  formed  must  be  joint  (Home  LCC  and  Entity  Expansion);   •  Inclusion  of  charge  according  to  the  need  and  maturity;   •  Suggestion  to  start  with  an  EB  formed  by  the  EIP  and  4  VPs  (OGX,  ICX,  COMM  and  TM).
