    • INQUIRY LEARNING!!! BY ADITYA
    • Have you ever lived without a microwave oven? What do you do when food has been in the fridge? Certainly it has been important in our lives. But have you ever thought how it works, when was it first made, and how has it changed throughout? This keynote presentation will answer all the questions for you. Even I own it!!!
    • Slide 1: Introduction to inquiry learning Slide 2: All about the inventor Slide 3: How did the idea develop and thought of? Slide 4:What are the benefits and negatives of the modern microwave oven Slide 5: How are early microwave ovens different to today’s? Slide 6: How has it impacted our lives? Slide 7: Timeline of how the microwaves have changed overtime? Slide 8: How it works Slide 9: Bibliography & Credits
      • I am presenting my inquiry learning about the legendary microwave oven.
      • I’ve made questions and have thoroughly answered them.
      • This process has taken me several weeks.
    • All about the intelligent inventor His Childhood Percy Spencer, unfortunately, had a rough and miserable childhood. He was born in a remote country in 1894. He soon became an orphan, at an age of seven-years old. When he turned twelve years old, he began to work in a mill that produced electricity. He was growing child that was curious and self-taught. His Achievements He was the first to discover that microwaves can cook food. He was the first to invent the microwave oven Contributed to the project of developing microwaves.
    • How did the idea develop and how was it thought of??
      • The discovery of the idea of microwave cooking was an accident. The idea was discovered by the famous inventor Percy Spencer of the Raytheon Company. This incident happened in World War II, when Spencer was studying the power of microwaves. A candy bar melted while he was doing this. Spencer realised that microwave cooking was way better than oven and sunlight cooking. He shared this information, and this idea was further considered by the world.
      • Note: That the microwave cooking discovery was not because that they wanted a new way of cooking, more or less, it was lucky.
    • What are the benefits and negatives of the microwave oven???
      • THE BENEFITS
      • Microwaves have timers in their operating system, which can be used for heating things for a certain time.
      • Microwave Ovens heat food much more efficiently than a conventional oven, its faster and less energy wasting
      • Microwave Ovens heat food without getting hot themselves. Ovens send heat directly, so the metal inside them also gets hot. This way your hand can’t get burned if you touch the microwave oven.
      • Microwave’s heat food by sending microwaves into the oven. A normal oven just sends heat out, bringing dangers such as inefficiency heating, and unnecessary heating. Microwave heating is better because none of these problems tend to happen.
      • THE NEGATIVES
      • A microwave oven wastes 36% of its energy usage.
      • A microwave oven can send too powerful microwaves which can damage the food and make if extra hot and can cause inconvenience.
    • HOW ARE THE EARLY MICROWAVES DIFFERENT TO TODAY’S?
      • Was 115 watt consuming
      • Its retailing price was $495
      • Cooked hamburgers in thirty seconds
      • Featured only two buttons (which were start and stop)
      • Microwave rays leaked out of the containers which could get harmful
      • Was viewed with suspicion and had many companies discouraging the making of it
To answer this question I compared one microwave oven made in 1967 and one made in 2007. 1967, the first decent microwave oven... 2007, the best microwave oven so far. . . Is 50% less cost Cooks food in half the time 1500 watt consuming Powerful enough to cook a five pound ham and six pound chicken 90 million households own it in America Is streamlined designed
      • Firstly...
      • The magnetron was developed.
      • It was a very important component of the microwave oven.
Then... In 1947, The first microwave oven was made. It was called Radarange. It was very heavy and space consuming. Next... In 1952, the first Tappan microwave oven was made. Itwas a improwavement from the Radarange and it was home useable. After... In 1967, the first Amana Radarange developed. It was the first commercial microwave oven. Quite usually, it was the size of today’s microwave ovens. Later... In 1975, Microwave Oven sales exceeded those of gas ranges. New components were added. Eventually, Last year, 2007, The new Amana Radarange was developed Latest model of microwave ovens
    • Impacting our lives!!!!!-How To answer this question I viewed comments and opinions from different people from various websites. Opinion from answers.com: ‘ I believe it has affected our lives positively and negatively. The negatives are, that people are losing the traditional way of cooking dinner. The positives are, that the microwave can cook foods in an instant, and can save a lot of time.’ Opinion from J.Walker Smith: ‘ The microwave oven is the NO.1 rated technology to make people’s lives better. It’s giving people instant satisfaction to making people’s lives better, which people are trying to have today.’ Whatever people’s opinions, most people would agree on that the microwave oven has impacted most people’s lives a lot. Just think how much we use it every day...
