Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s Message to the People
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi gave a message to the leaders and members of the NLD that the party’s
leadership and members should conduct their works decisively without reluctance. She wants her
party members and supporter not to be arrested again as there have already been many political
prisoners in prisons. For her part, she said she will say the truth and do the right things.
Court Trial – Updated Situation
10:00 (Local Time)—The closed-door court trial started at 10 a.m. Lawyer U Kyi Win, U Hla
Myo Myint, U Nyan Win and Daw Khin Htay Kywe, were allowed to be at the court. The junta
brought four plaintiffs—four security personnel and one person from Ward Peace and
Development Council (WPDC)—to the court.
U Nyan Win, the spokesperson for her National League for Democracy said: “The witnesses
described the situation when they arrested him. They said they watched him as he swam and at
first they thought he was a thief. But they said that they knew as soon as he came to the bank of
the lake that he was a foreigner. Then they took him to special branch.”
Through his lawyer U Khin Maung Oo, Mr. John W. Yettaw told to the court that he saw a
danger going to fall upon Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Suu’a life through his mind. That’s why he
came to Burma to tell both Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the junta about that.
The court trial ended at 15:00 p.m. and adjourned to May 20. Detailed accounts of the court trial
remain unknown.
Observers commented that the junta is going to give Daw Aung San Suu Kyi a prison sentence,
given that the court trials have been scheduled continuously for the successive three weekdays.

The Situation outside Insein Prison
More than one thousand NLD members led by U Win Tin, Secretary of the NLD, and supporters
of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi gathered in front of the Insein prison. As the public gathering is more
increasing than it was yesterday, the authorities deployed more security personnel around Insein
prison.
The threats of the armed security forces to the public happened more than two times in front of
the prison. In one incident, a truck carrying armed security forces drove to a group led by U Win
Tin and abruptly stopped when the truck is going to hit them. Then, the armed forces run down
from the truck and drove them away.
There is one incident of distributing political leaflets in the crowd. No report of arrest has been
received yet.
This attempt of the security forces sent a signal that they will use force to crack down the public
crowd if it will become increase more and more. The situation told that in the coming court
trials, there can be a mass movement and the authorities will brutally crack down it as they did to
Buddhist monk-led demonstrations in September, 2007.
