Cef State Newsletter Fall 2007 - Presentation Transcript

    1. 07 fall/winter Impact newsletter Child Evangelism Fellowship Of South Carolina, Inc.
    2. Over 100 youth converged on Coker College campus in Hartsville, SC for a week of intense training and spiritual readiness. Each student was challenged with understanding the freedom they possess in Christ and the Freedom? profound privilege to make freedom available to thousands of children this summer. These are some of their stories. Savannah Smoak - “At the end of CYIA Training School our group went to a Boys and Girls Club to share the Gospel. Sydney was confused at first, but man, was she smart. She knew the answer to every question showing that she understood that Jesus died for her. I took her to 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 and that’s when the light bulb really came on. She was so certain of what she wanted to do. I asked her if she wanted to ask Jesus in her life to save her from her sin, she said yes with eyes wide open. After she prayed I took her to John 1:12 and put her name in the verse and her eyes got wider every time I Rebecca Rhodes - “CEF Training School mentioned her name. Before I could finish, she put me into a spiritual high and it has not jumped up and asked me if she could go tell her gone completely away. We all came back teacher. I told her she could but I had more promises that God had made for her. I didn’t think it was and were ready to roll. We had many clubs where kids were excited which possible, but her eyes got wider and she said, made us extremely excited. We’ve had “There’s more?”, in a tone that was if she couldn’t believe it. “ kids come to know Christ. con’t…

God has shown me many things in my him or show him that he was not truly saved. life that He has been trying to show me for years but I wouldn’t listen. Now I am more amazed than ever On Friday he came back to talk to me again. He wanted to talk because he said that he did about Jesus. I also learned my strongest spiritual not understand how to grow. I was able to go gifts that I never would have known without CEF!” through the ways to grow and even gave him Jon Oliphant - I have really learned that nothing can a Bible since he did not have his own. He be done on my own, and only through prayer and was excited and wanted to read the first nine trust can things be done. Just last week this was verses of Mark 1 right then. God has also evident in one of our clubs. I had the amazing really given me a heart of prayer for the privilege of leading a boy named James to the Lord. children and for everything. I am so thankful This was really encouraging, but I was a little of what He has taught me through this concerned because he was still acting up amazing ministry to the children.” Sammy-Kaye Lunsford - “I’ve gotten the chance to see God work in many different ways. I’ve seen many kids who’s faces light up at the very thought of a new memory verse or song. It is amazing to see how God can use someone like us to help lead people back to Him. It has been so incredible to see the power and the love of God through these kids. I am looking forward to seeing what else God has in store for me and all of these children”
    4. It‟s All About Making Money... Right? Everyone wants to feel the sense of security that comes from having sufficient funds in the bank to take care of our needs and desires. Unfortunately, no matter how much money we have, it never seems to be enough and we really never have a true sense of serenity. The more we spend on ourselves the less we spend on the needs of others. In turn, creating a greater demand from each of us in society. When we fail to share with others what God has provided us, needs within society as a whole naturally increase. Your part in society means higher taxes to take care of needs that could and should have been met simply by “loving your neighbor as you love yourself”. Government attempts to do what God has called His people to do and the results are not very effective but extremely expensive. When you are in a ministry like CEF that depends on God to move His people to share what He has given them to support this mission, you quickly learn - serenity is not provided by how much money you have in the bank but by the fulfillment of obedience in which you serve. con‟t on next page…
    5. It‟s All About Making Money... Right? Disobedience leads to struggle - for yourself, for others, and for society as a whole. Our determination to have sufficient funds often robs us rather than support us. It undermines our responsibility and our peace with God and man. Who knows? Maybe the real way to have a sense of security and have sufficient funds in the bank is to share it in obedience to the „Giver of all good things” - to spend it in accordance with His will. Maybe we should be less concerned with making money and more concerned with our level of obedient giving - to the honor of God and for the good of His work toward man. “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added as needed.” -Jesus
    6. Building for the Future! Richard Summerford, State Director We are building for the future in the midst of turmoil within our nation and all around us. For the first time in over 55 years, CEF of South Carolina, Inc., has plans to build a state office! It will be called the Children’s Ministry Training Center. We are excited at the possibilities that lie ahead, but at the same time, we are overwhelmed with the expense of this project, estimated to be $275,000. We have been encouraged by God to move forward with the project in that He has already provided $60,000. This facility is so greatly needed by our ministry and will be a great asset to the growth of all eleven CEF offices. This center will enable us to train hundreds of volunteers and staff for CEF of South Carolina. We will be able to minister to future generations as they face uncertain times. The Lord is growing this ministry in ways I have never seen in twenty years of service. Why? I believe it is because the children are our future, and we are preparing them to be faithful. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” God is doing just that in CEF today. By the end of 2007, we will charter five new offices! This will make it possible for us to reach every county in the state and every elementary school with an After-School Good News Club during the next few years. The Lord is blessing our ministry to prisoners in miraculous ways. Someone has just come forward to …con’t
    7. Richard Summerford, State Director volunteer as a state coordinator for our What Went Wrong program. Further, we have also been given permission to go into all 29 prisons in the state and give out information to the prisoners for the purpose of reaching them, and their children as well. A local foundation is seeking to provide a camp to CEF for children of prisoners, Camp Angel Tree, so that hundreds of prisoners’ children will hear the Good News each summer. It is anticipated that our Christian Youth In Action (CYIA) program will double in size over the next few years. It is our desire that many of these young people will answer God’s call into full-time Christian service and join our staff at CEF. We are working to build a partnership with Columbia International University for the purpose of higher education for many of our CYIA students to become missionaries all over the world. Our volunteer staff will grow to over 8000 workers within the next few years. Most of these will be working with our After-School Good News Clubs within the public schools. There is much more this ministry is involved in, but space does not permit me to list them all. My hope and desire is that you will join us by your support and prayers for our general fund, development expenses and building fund. Won’t you help us give the Hope of Jesus Christ to the children? We need you now more than ever!
