2. WHAT I DO
Having learnt that working hard
for, and focusing on others’
needs, does little to fulfil my own
happiness in work or personally.
I now choose to undertake all
opportunities that not only
accommodate my financial
needs but my private ambitions
as well. My work and my
personal actions inspire my
travel and my imagination.
3.
4. What I do…
I am a writer
• I write for pleasure and for
financial recompense
• I belong to an on-line writing
community that inspires me,
and that welcomes my
contribution.
• I have written & published a
book about my travels in SE
Asia. The book is comical yet
educational, in that it
discusses the traps and
nuances of travel as a single,
female flashpacker in raw and
honest detail, while educating
it’s readers on human and
animal exploitation in the
tourism sector.
5. What I do…
I invest in myself
• I travel to attend workshops,
courses & retreats that
develop my current skills and
introduce me to new ways of
working and living smarter,
and with purpose.
• My health & wellbeing are a
priority in my days
6. How I Feel
I am truly happy. I wake up to
each day with purpose and at
peace with my commitments.
7. How I feel…
My website “Tales of Roam”
brings me a great deal of
pleasure. I honestly enjoy writing
about my travel experiences and
revel in my community’s
subsequent on-line discussions.
8. How I feel…
My freelance writing work is so
aligned with my personal ethics
and beliefs that it does not feel
like work at all. I enjoy the
research I do for each article
and use this time to broaden
my own knowledge on the
subjects that matter to me.
9. How I feel…
Having published my 1st book,
I have gained the confidence
and experience to finalise my
next book this year. The
feedback and lessons-learnt
from my 1st book have taught
me a great deal, and I expect
the work getting this 2nd book
published, to be a great deal
simpler than the 1st.
10. How I feel…
Having worked out a weekly
schedule which balances my
work, health and personal
commitments that takes into
account my travelling, I feel
thankful that I can live the type
of life that I enjoy. Unless I am
travelling, each day is spent with
a balance of exercise, healthy
food, working on my Tales of
Roam and writing
commitments, with a healthy
dose of creativity thrown in to
everything I do.
11. Culture and Spirit
Through Tales of Roam I
promote an inclusive
environment where stereotypes
and ignorance is questioned, not
ridiculed, and diversity and
critical thinking are embraced
with a global perspective.
I have the opportunity to write
for individuals and organisations
who align with my beliefs that
treating everyone the same, is
not the same as treating
everyone well. I learn more
about social justice through my
writing and in turn, my articles
are used to promote these
ideals.
12. My Support Team
My team consists of:
• A webtech wonder who has
taught me a lot in the past 3
years, but still knows my
limitations and takes this into
consideration when
responsively replying to my
tech support needs.
• A respected mentor who I
can openly and honestly
express my frustrations to,
and who inspires me.
13. Communication
* My primary communication
method is through the Tales of
Roam blog, newsletter, Pinterest
and Facebook accounts.
14. Who I help
• I help travellers to educate
themselves on the impact they
make on the communities they
visit, through:
• Tales of Roam blog
discussions and
destination or issue
specific articles
• I volunteer in the
communities I visit in
order to gain first hand
experience of the issues
they face, then promote
these experiences
through Tales of Roam
and my writing.
15. Wealth Creation
• My 1st book is selling well
enough to now be a viable
income stream. I intend to
capitalise from the sales on
this first book, to leverage
sales for my 2nd book.
• My freelance writing has
become my primary income
stream and now that I have
established myself with
reputable clients, our writing
agreements are consistently
returning good income.
16. Wellness and Balance
• I manage my week around a
flexible schedule which
balances work, play and my
personal wellbeing.
• I stay in healthy
accommodation
environments which allow me
eat and sleep in clean and
inspiring locations.
• My schedule also includes
attending and/or being
involved in creative
endeavours which inspire
me.
• The volunteering and work
that I do, re-energizes me
through the creativity and
inspiring people they bring
into my life.
