  • 2. Historic Houses Trust of NSW Meroogal is one of a number of HHT properties and is located in Nowra in the Shoalhaven, a couple of hours drive from Sydney.

Accessing educational resources in the Shoalhaven <ul><li>Project focus - to encourage and develop the use of local museums by teachers and students of the HSC History Extension course on the South Coast of NSW and in the Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands areas: </li></ul><ul><li>Raising awareness of resources in the region; </li></ul><ul><li>Facilitating the development of relationships between the schools and local museums. </li></ul>
  • 6. The HSC History Project Assessment Essay <ul><li>The project is submitted for assessment in the form of a 2,500 word essay. In researching the essay the student is expected to consult a wide variety of sources including written, archaeological, oral, graphic, audio-visual and multi-media sources </li></ul><ul><li>T he topic should be developed out of or inspired by, amongst other things: </li></ul><ul><li>an historical debate or controversy; </li></ul><ul><li>history in the media (film, documentary etc.,); </li></ul><ul><li>oral history; </li></ul><ul><li>local history; </li></ul><ul><li>the impact of global or national events at a regional or local level; </li></ul><ul><li>museums as history </li></ul>

History Extension Seminar - Fleet Air Arm Museum in Nowra on Friday 23 rd October 2009 <ul><li>The seminar, for teachers of HSC History Extension and their students, encouraged and supported the use of the resources of the SMART museums by: </li></ul><ul><li>demonstrating the potential of local museums in providing valuable learning opportunities for history students and supporting them in their learning; </li></ul><ul><li>outlining how the local museums might be able to assist and guide History Extension students in developing and completing their History Project. </li></ul>
