    Ribbon
    • Long, wide strip across the top
    • 3. Houses the tools for working in an application
    • 4. Designed to put options needed in plain view
  • Within the Ribbon
    Tabs
    • Replace Menus that were a part of 2003
    • 5. Eight-nine tabs across the top of each program
    • 6. File, Home, Insert are same in all applications
    • 7. The other ones are application specific
    • 8. Click any tab on the ribbon to display its buttons and commands
  • Within the Ribbon
    Groups
    • Appear as sections of the ribbon tab
    • 9. Contain a set of related commands
    • 10. In the Paragraph group above, you will find commands for creating bulleted or numbered lists, aligning texts, etc.

    While the Ribbon provides the commands for working in your document, Backstage view shows commands and choices you need to work with the file as a whole.

  • Customizing the Ribbon
    Ribbon can be customized to suit the way you work
    Allows you to turn off the display of tabs you don’t use, as well as create new tabs and groups
    You can add a group to an existing tab or move a group to a different tab.
    You can also change the order in which the tabs and groups appear.
  • 13. Quick Access Toolbar
    • Commands shown in the Quick Access Toolbar are always visible
    • 14. Favorite commands can be added to this toolbar
  • Using the Mini Toolbar
    Floats above selected text and displays commonly-used formatting choices
    Initially appears translucent and then faces in when you move the pointer toward it
    Appears automatically whenever you select text
  • 15. Print Preview and Print
    The options and tools for Printing and Previewing documents now appear together in the Print tab in Backstage view
    The section on the left shows the print settings and options, while the section on the right displays a preview of the document.
