    • Info Island is a location in Second Life where one can find many librarians and library resources available for education and research needs.
    • Info Island offers a teleport board that allows one to choose what subject area they would like to learn more about.
    • So, if one clicks, or “touches” astronomy…
    • the avatar is then teleported to a place to learn more about astronomy.
    • There is a reference desk where individuals volunteer to work and help people locate information.
    • The CybraryCity Public Library is a virtual public library that offers many resources to Second Life users.
    • Cybrary City Public Library offers internet subject guides on many different topics. If an individual chooses Science and Technology…
    • They are taken to a website with many different online resources on science and technology.
    • The Cybrary City Public Library also links to ebooks that are no longer covered by copyright and are therefore free to download in their entirety thanks to www.gutenberg.org.
    • The State Library of Kansas has a virtual branch online with many useful resources.
    • The lobby of the Kansas State Library offers Kansas Images, links to the state library catalog, and their homepage.
    • As shown in the picture above, the state library also offers a ton of useful state of Kansas information. One would simply “touch” the signs on the wall to be taken to this information.
    • Many universities have campuses and libraries in Second Life. The University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science has set up a great example of a university library online.
    • They have a circulation desk.
    • They offer a virtual reference desk.
    • USC also offers links to many of the university resources as well as state, and national resources for informaiton.
    • One can even visit Disney World in Second Life.
    • Second Life even allows travelers to get free souvenirs and take photos of their virtual vacation.
