“ Take homes”: If you smoke, and if your FA levels are not optimum, “homozygous” [double SNP] 5MTHFR mutated individuals are at higher risk of elevated homocysteine

“ Take homes”: Homocysteine and lipoprotein Lp(a) are KNOWN risk factors for CAD. (Hyperhomocysteinemia = low FA.) Have your levels even been checked?

Free radicals cause lipid peroxidation (“spoilage of fats”).
“ Spoiled” LDL cholesterol = Lip(a). It becomes sticky and can clog arteries and cause macrophages to become foam cells. This causes arteriosclerosis . Too much = stroke or MI.

Oxidative stress [DAMAGE] on DNA: Cancer & Loss of Life
Free radicals in the nucleus of the cell can attack a gene and damage the chemical bonds and alter the information transcribed , or they can cause cross-linking (shutting down replication).
