  • 1. The Decommissioning Certificate Program – A Joint Effort of ANL and ORAU Lawrence E. Boing Argonne National Laboratory Nuclear Engineering Division June 2009
  • 2. Purpose of the Decommissioning Certificate Program
    • Provide a ‘formal’ means to document that an individual has achieved a baseline level of training in the subject of facility/site decommissioning
    • Provide a ‘formal’ training certificate to allow it’s holder an advantage in being considered for future staffing or participation in various decommissioning projects / programs
  • 3. General Requirements
    • Program opened April 1, 2009; participants are NOT required to pre-register to participate in the program
    • Must complete two core/requisite training courses and one additional elective training course; ANL and ORAU offer training courses
    • Certificate is issued by ORAU after verification that all training and certification requirements were completed
    • Database of certificate awardees to be maintained by ORAU
  • 4. General Requirements (ctd)
    • Participation is open to domestic and foreign participants
    • Technical background or other degreed educational background is highly recommended for participants
    • Fees levied are just standard training course host registration fees; there is no administrative fee for certification program participation
    • Individual courses can still be taken outside of this program as in the past; participation in this program is voluntary

    • Facility Decommissioning Training Course offered by ANL
    • MARSSIM Training Course offered by ORAU
  • 6. Elective Training Courses
    • Any RESRAD Training Course offered by ANL
    • Site Characterization Training Course offered by ORAU
    • Gamma Spectroscopy Training Course offered by ORAU
