Environment Initiatives – Natural Resources• Promoting the use of bamboo in all its uses – Icon of sustainability – highest carbon sequestration amongst all floral species – Tensile strength of steel• Lavasa Bamboocrafts Ltd. – A factory that produces furniture and decorative artefacts made out of locally available bamboo March ‘12

Environment - Special Initiatives• Positioning Lavasa as a sustainable city in Asia• Implementation of Ecological Performance Standards underway – With The Biomimicry Guild, U.S.A.• Renewable energy options integrated in design for Mugaon (second town) aim for 10 – 15 % of total energy requirement• Techno-commercial evaluation for establishing wind farms, mini-hydel power stations and solar farms underway• Energy Plantation option also being explored• Dual purpose of greening as well as generation of renewable electricity.
