The document proposes a documentary about the World's Greatest Shave event to raise awareness and show the fun atmosphere. It will focus on the day's events rather than the charity. Interviews will show people's feelings before and after shaving or dyeing hair. One team member will get their head shaved to add jeopardy. They will film with two cameras to get variety and return to class by noon. It aims to be lighthearted and fun rather than use guilt to encourage participation.
2. Goals
✤ We will be focusing on the events of the day and not the charity
involved beyond a brief introduction.
✤ We aim to produce a light hearted, fun video. A lot of charity based
documentaries are quite solemn and use guilt and empathy to
encourage participation, whereas our video will try to show the fun
atmosphere of the event.
✤ Increasing awareness for those with no previous knowledge of the
event.
3. Audience
✤ Those interested in participating in or supporting the event.
✤ We also hope it will appeal to the general audience's curiosity, as it is
something that a lot of people have heard about but not many have
seen.
4. Details of the event
✤ The event will be taking place on 15th March 2012 at Martin Place.
✤ The event starts at 7.30am, and we have organised to have a group
member there for incidental shots of setting up and the beginning of
the event if needed.
✤ We have confirmed with the organiser that we have permission to
film there.
5. Environment
✤ We have scouted the location and found access to power.
✤ As the shoot is outside, we will be relying on natural light sources.
✤ As it will be a noisy event, we will be taking a shotgun mic to record
sounds to cut out peripheral sounds.
6. Basic Composition
✤ Shots of set-up with title screen. ~ 10 seconds
✤ Interview with Bianca(organiser). Mid-shot. Questions are factual, information based, about the event. ~ 30 - 40
seconds
✤ Incidental shots, people preparing for shaves/dye, event activities. ~ 20 seconds
✤ ‘Sound Byte’ style interviews with ‘before’ people. Try to get a good range - kids, women, men. Shots close up and
intimate. Focus on feelings. Cut aways to them actually in the chair. ~ 80 - 90 seconds
✤ Shaving/dyeing shots, cutaways of relevant activities(clippers, sprays, kids playing). ~ 20 seconds
✤ Post shave/dye sound bytes. ~ 50 - 60 seconds
✤ Team member shave and post shave. ~ 50 seconds
✤ Credits. ~ 5 seconds
✤ Total time ~ 265 - 295 seconds
7. Jeopardy
✤ The 'Jeopardy' of the documentary is that one of our group members
will be getting their head shaved at the event. To create anticipation,
we will include small clips of her talking about it throughout the
documentary, nerves etc culminating in a video of the shave and a
brief post shave debrief.
8. Logistics
✤ Our main concern is time related. Our entire group has to be back to
COFA by 11-12 for classes. To help compensate for this we have
organised to hire 2 cameras for the shoot so we can split the team and
get a variety of shots.
✤ We have no particular safety concerns for our shoot.
9. Extras
✤ We have no plans to include stock/archival footage.
✤ Music will be researched during the editing phase, although
something upbeat, light hearted and fun would suit the mood.
