5. Deben has 40% of Suffolk’s saltmarsh

6. Saltmarsh
• Extends from the mean high water of neap tides to the
mean high water of spring tides where only occasional
inundations will occur.
• Salt marsh occurs around coasts which have conditions
suitable for the net accumulation of sediment and
receive shelter from strong wave action.
