      • Permeable
        • They can breath through their skin.
        • They can drink through their skin.
      • Live skin cells – How is this different from the epidermis layer of human skin?

      • Some can even change color!
    • Some frogs excrete toxins through their skin.
  • 2. Elephant Skin
    • Top layer
      • Impermeable
      • Dead skin cells
    • Very thick in order to hold in all that mass
      • 2.5 cm thick in some places
    • No sweat glands
      • instead they have huge ears to cool them down
      • They often bathe in water to cool down.
    • Elephants cover their skin in mud as a sunscreen.
