    3. ‘’ RIVERS’’
      • WATER FALLING ON LAND SURFACES MUST RUN OFF IN ESTABLISHED STREAMS OR ERODE NEW CHANNELS. THE RUN OFF SEVERAL SLOPES COLLECTS IN LOW PLACES. THIS GREATLY INCREASES THE ERODING POWER OF WATER, AND SOON A GULLY IS FORMED.
      • THUS THE NATURAL CONTOUR OF THE LAND PARTLY DETERMINES THE PLACES WHERE MAJOR STREAMS WILL EVENTUALLY DEVELOP
      • EVENTUALLY THIS PROCESS RESULTS IN A
      • FULLY DEVELOPED VALLEY CONTAINING A
      • PERMANENT STREAM. ALONG THE GROWTH
      • OF THE BEGINNING RIVER AND ITS VALLEY.
      • TRIBUTARIES

      • Watershed
      • -a series of slopes which drain into a river system.
