as a result of the smoking ban public houses have been building smoking architecture. at one end of the spectrum some of this building is very temporary and feels thrown together, just waiting for people to stop requiring the services of this temporary shelter. at the other end are serious building additions to the existing fabric of the pub as a statement of intention – we shall smoke. the creativity of the landlord is exhibited very publically and this is matched by the lack of interest and the buying in of existing structures from the smoking catalogue structures from hell. the images are just a few from my collection. Look around your area to make your own connection to the world of smoking architecture.
