      • Representatives from Brazil, Chil é, Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador
    10. Discuss: Workshop
      • Objective - Discuss the potential for modern science in a new age of sail
      • Outcome: Commitment to form an overarching international research program centered around a “ Biodiversity Without Borders ” theme in coordination with national research objectives
    11. Sail: The Spirit of Adventure
      • Goal: Establish the feasibility of modern scientific techniques aboard a traditionally rigged tall ship

    13. Connect: From Space to the students...
      • Brazilian students connect with Mike Barrett on the ISS
    14. Connect: DNA and Evolution
      • Historical connection between Darwin, his ideas, and Brazil
      • Presentation and translation of NHM materials by Instituto Sangari
      • Demonstrated DNA extraction with kitchen ingredients and local Cuchaca
    15. Learn: Forming an educational program from the experience
      • ~60 local schoolchildren participated in educational activities around the program, including the opportunity to speak directly to astronauts aboard the ISS
      • Children became ambassadors for Darwin in their own classrooms!
      • Continuing support by the Instituto Sangari
      • Teacher’s learned how to conduct scientific investigations in their “natural laboratory” and received resources for kitchen science experiments and educational funding
