  • 5. The project
    • Initiated by “IT-Forum Sogn og Fjordane” – ends 01.01.2010
    • Wanted to create a platform for collaboration between schools, and different types of schools – LMS was quickly chosen!
    • About 60% of all schools used Fronter as their LMS-solution
    • 130 - Primary and lower secondary schools 18 - Upper secondary schools 1 - Institution for higher education
    • 30% had no LMS or used a LMS “type-of-system” with limited functionality
    • Has three sub-projects: LMS – Infrastructure – Content publishing
  • 6. Before the project was initiated
  • 7. The schools had…
    • … few local administrator(s) with training
    • … no formal structure for collaboration
    • … no possible way to initiate collaboration (lacked FronterBridge)
    • … different Fronter setups and structures
    • … no one to contact when they had troubles
    • … different levels of Fronter-use (som had none)
  • 8. Stage 1: Organizing the schools

  • 10. FronterBridge and organizing advantages
    • “ No” duplicate users
    • Collaboration rooms between schools
    • Public rooms – Guest membership(read-only)
    • Easy to move users between schools
    • Teachers can get access to others resources
    • Students can enroll in studies outside their school
    • Teacher training institution can get access to classrooms in primary and secondary school
  • 11. Stage 3: Administration and collaboration
    • Provide Fronter-administration training for the schools
    • Help schools getting started with Fronter:
      • Structure / Organization
      • User import (.txt / .csv)
      • Training
    • Administer FronterBridge users across Fronter-installations
    • Set up collaboration rooms – on request from the schools
    • Inspire schools to engage in projects with other schools
    • Contact point between 160 schools and Fronter
    • Support
  • 12. Stage 4: Independent schools
  • 13. After the project …
    • … over 20 new schools have started using Fronter
    • … the schools will have new possibilities to collaborate
    • … the schools that had “low-level” Fronter usage, have improved their Fronter skills
    • … all schools have had the opportunity participate in training sessions
    • … all schools have the same structure in Fronter – making collaboration, administration and training easy
