The project <ul><li>Initiated by “IT-Forum Sogn og Fjordane” – ends 01.01.2010 </li></ul><ul><li>Wanted to create a platform for collaboration between schools, and different types of schools – LMS was quickly chosen! </li></ul><ul><li>About 60% of all schools used Fronter as their LMS-solution </li></ul><ul><li>130 - Primary and lower secondary schools 18 - Upper secondary schools 1 - Institution for higher education </li></ul><ul><li>30% had no LMS or used a LMS “type-of-system” with limited functionality </li></ul><ul><li>Has three sub-projects: LMS – Infrastructure – Content publishing </li></ul>

The schools had… <ul><li>… few local administrator(s) with training </li></ul><ul><li>… no formal structure for collaboration </li></ul><ul><li>… no possible way to initiate collaboration (lacked FronterBridge) </li></ul><ul><li>… different Fronter setups and structures </li></ul><ul><li>… no one to contact when they had troubles </li></ul><ul><li>… different levels of Fronter-use (som had none) </li></ul><ul><li>… </li></ul>

FronterBridge and organizing advantages <ul><li>“ No” duplicate users </li></ul><ul><li>Collaboration rooms between schools </li></ul><ul><li>Public rooms – Guest membership(read-only) </li></ul><ul><li>Easy to move users between schools </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers can get access to others resources </li></ul><ul><li>Students can enroll in studies outside their school </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher training institution can get access to classrooms in primary and secondary school </li></ul>

Stage 3: Administration and collaboration <ul><li>Provide Fronter-administration training for the schools </li></ul><ul><li>Help schools getting started with Fronter: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Structure / Organization </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>User import (.txt / .csv) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Training </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Administer FronterBridge users across Fronter-installations </li></ul><ul><li>Set up collaboration rooms – on request from the schools </li></ul><ul><li>Inspire schools to engage in projects with other schools </li></ul><ul><li>Contact point between 160 schools and Fronter </li></ul><ul><li>Support </li></ul>

After the project … <ul><li>… over 20 new schools have started using Fronter </li></ul><ul><li>… the schools will have new possibilities to collaborate </li></ul><ul><li>… the schools that had “low-level” Fronter usage, have improved their Fronter skills </li></ul><ul><li>… all schools have had the opportunity participate in training sessions </li></ul><ul><li>… all schools have the same structure in Fronter – making collaboration, administration and training easy </li></ul><ul><li>… </li></ul>
