1. 1.

Describe the representation of youth in the two posters bellow.

What are the connotations of the two texts?

 2. 2.

In the posters above there are many similarities, for example:

The positioning of the characters.

They are appear to be individuals but together, they share the same sense of fashion; therefore a sense of belonging with one another is obvious.

The colours of the poster fonts are similar, they use the typical British flag colours of white red and blue.

The basis of the posters are a row of people standing in front of a wall – this can be perceived as gritty, - it’s not glamorous, it’s hard hitting – this makes the characters look like British commoners.

 3. 3.

In the posters above there are many differences, for example:

The quality of the posters are different ‘This is England’ uses very bright and bold colour in the main picture where as ‘Quadrophenia’ is made to look like an old photograph, which is fairly dark.

‘ Quadrophenia’s’ layout is a lot simpler than ‘This is England’, for example it does not have reviews and awards on the poster.

In ‘This is Enlgand’ poster there are people that tend to stand out a lot more than others due to they wear clothes that are slightly different. Also the colouring of the poster makes them stand out. Where as ‘Quadrophenia’ they are all wearing the same sort of coats.
