How to Make Cinnamon Rolls From Scratch! By: Keely Yazzie
Ingredients: ¾ cup of Milk ¼ cup of Softened Margarine Butter 2 ¼ cups of Flour One (0.25 ounces) Package of Instant Yeast ¼ cup of sugar ½ teaspoon of salt ¼ cup of warm water One large egg 1 cup of Flour 1 cup of Brown Sugar 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon ½ cup of Softened Margarine Butter
Materials Small Saucepan Kitchen Towels Rolling Pin Knife Wire Cooling Rack Large Mixing Bowl Small Bowl Greased Muffin Pan
Step 1: After gathering all materials and ingredients, heat up the ¾ cup of milk in a saucepan until it starts to bubble (DON’T BOIL or SCALD the milk!). Remove the milk from the heat and add the ¼ cup of softened margarine butter to the liquid. Stir until the butter is completely melted. Let mixture cool down.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ¼ cups of flour, One package of instant yeast (0.25 ounces), ¼ cup of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt. After combining the ingredients, add the milk mixture, ¼ cup of warm water, and one large egg to the bowl. Mix well and add an extra cup of flour, only ½ cup at a time. Stir well after each addition.
Step 3: Keep stirring until dough comes off clean from the sides of the bowl. Put dough on a floured surface. Knead the dough with hands for about five minutes or until smooth. After kneading, cover the dough with a damp kitchen towel. Let the dough sit for 10 minutes, untouched.
Step 4: While waiting for the dough to rise, you may combine 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, and ½ cup of softened margarine in a small bowl. Mix until it’s formed into a, “smooth, paste-like consistency”.
Step 5: Once dough is done, roll the dough into a rectangular shape by using a rolling pin. Spread the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture evenly onto the dough. Roll up the dough from one end to the other and pinch the seams to seal the cinnamon inside.
Step 6: After the dough is rolled up, cut 12 equally sized slices from the roll. Make sure to put the cut side up into each compartment of the greased muffin pan. Cover the pan with a dry kitchen towel, and let dough sit for 30 minutes.
Step 7: While waiting for your dough to double in size, pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until brown. Once the cinnamon rolls are done baking, remove them from the muffin pan and place on wire racks for them to cool.
Step 8: Serve the cinnamon rolls warm or with frosting. Now you many enjoy your cinnamon rolls!
