What is a Laptop? <ul><li>A laptop, which also can be called a laptop computer or notebook computer , is a portable computer that can be easily carried and folded open and closed. </li></ul><ul><li>Open, it reveals a display monitor and a full-sized keyboard. Closed, it protects those components with a sturdy, protective, outside surface. </li></ul>

How do Laptops Work? <ul><li>POWER: </li></ul><ul><li>Laptops can be powered by </li></ul><ul><ul><li>An external AC/DC adaptor (power cord). </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Battery power </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Battery life can be 3 to 8 hours and makes it easy to work anywhere </li></ul></ul></ul>

How do Laptops Work? <ul><li>COMPONENTS: </li></ul><ul><li>Laptops are </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Similar to desktops and perform the same functions </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Much smaller and designed to be carried </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Much lighter and sturdier than desktops </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Keyboard and track pad or touchpad are built into the case </li></ul><ul><ul><li>An external keyboard and mouse may be attached </li></ul></ul>

How are Laptops Used in Schools? <ul><li>Laptops are usually: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Stored in mobile carts </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Moved from class to class </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Laptops allow: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Students can work in small groups </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>“Laptop Schools” offer 1 to 1 Laptops so each student has his or her own laptop </li></ul></ul>
