What is a circle? A circle is a locus of a point in a plane which moves such that its distance from a fixed point in the same plane remains constant . The fixed point is called the centre of the circle and the fixed distance is called the radius. O P Here O is the centre and OP is the radius.

The bottom and top of a bucket is usually a circle. A playing drum is circular. A clock is usually circular. The top of the table shown below is a circle. Where do you find circles? Look around you! There are circles everywhere!
