  2. 2. Dingus Day or WetMonday (Polish Śmigus-Dingus or lanyponiedziałek) is the namefor Easter Monday inPoland.

In Poland traditionally, earlyin the morning boys awakegirls by pouring a bucket ofwater on their head andstriking them about the legswith long thin twigs orswitches made fromwillow, birch or decoratedtree branches; however, theearliest documented recordsof Dingus Day in Poland arefrom the 15thcentury, almost half amillennium after Polandadopted Christianity.
  4. 4. Today, children goin the streets andpour some water ontheir friends. Theyuse buckets, waterpistols, bottles andfunny water toys. Itis said that girlswho are wet onthat day, are reallyattractive andbeautiful.
