  • 2. About Noodletools
    • NoodleBib is the note-taking and documentation program which was designed to teach good practices in academic research as well as citing sources.
    • According to the web based software company, 50-70% of students admit to plagiarism.
    • This course will focus on and introduction to the preliminary steps teachers can take to begin to create a sense of awareness among young adults about what plagiarism is.
    • The main purpose of the program is to direct teachers in using Noodletools to cite work and give them the knowledge to share it with their students.
  • 3. Getting Started
    • Go to the Joseph R. Bolger homepage and click on the library link.
    • Once at the library link, click on the Noodletools link on the lower right.
  • 4. Create a log in
    • Once Noodletools is open, click on the RIGHT where it says LOG IN
    • Next, click on NEW REGISTRATION USER on LEFT side
    • Choose JRBMS
    • Log in Name: Whole first name.Last name
    • Example: Kristine.Thorn
  • 5. Practice
    • To use:
    • When you are ready to site work you have used, click on CREATE A NEW LIST
    • Here you will name the paper or project that you are working on. Example: 6th Grade Social Studies Report
  • 6. Start with a Book
    • Next, decide what type of citation you would like to use. It is customary for students to use MLA (Blue) ADVANCED (Black). Graduate work will use APA.
    • Next, decide what you would like to cite. Today will choose BOOK, and then CREATE CITATION.
    • It will ask you what kind of a book- the whole text? A fragment of the book? On line or in print? In most cases it will be the ENTIRE BOOK.
    • Chose PRINTED BOOK
  • 7. You decide!
    • The program provides a lot of choices to make sure you are citing the correct resource.
  • 8. The Book
    • Imagine you used this book for your research project and you want to refer to it on Noodletools.

    • By John Epenheimer
    • Published 2007
    • Random House Publishing
    • New York City
  • 9. Adding the Author
    • Next, it will ask for the Author. Type it in and hit ADD
    • It will set it up the right way for you. Don’t forget to hit ADD!
  • 10. Add all the information you have
    • All of the BASIC INFORMATION must be filled in. This includes:
    • Aurthor(s) Date of Publication, year of Publication, city of Publication.
    • In most cases, that is all you will know. If you know more, you can add it, but you don’t have to.
  • 11. Adding Basic Information
    • Continue to add the basic information to the list
  • 12. Generate a citation
    • Once you inserted the information, click GENERATE CITATION and noodle tools will automatically write it the way it should!
  • 13. Other options
    • Users can now print, save or change this citation to a word document.
  • 14. Keep Going
    • You are now ready to add more references if you want to. You can add as many to the list as you wish
    • Noodletools will put them in the correct order for you.
  • 15. Special Notes
    • Noodletools will not necessarily check spelling. You must be sure the information is spelled correctly.
    • If you capitalize a letter, Noodletools will too.
    • Make sure you check your work prior to adding it to the program.
  • 16. Other Features
    • Noodletools allows users to make note cards to keep their information organized.
    • Tutorials are provided to assist teachers in helping students understand the phases of research.
    • A plagiarism policy template is available
    • Reading strategies and 21 st century literacy tool kit are also included
