    • ENDEAVOUR LANGUAGE TEACHER FELLOWSHIPS 2012 www.eltf.austraining.com.au
    • KEY DATES Applications open week of  Monday 30th May Applications close 11.59 pm, Monday 25 July 2011 Successful applicants announced – Aug/September 2011 Pre-departure briefings- November 2011 Study programs – 31 December 2011 – 25 January 2012 Awardee reports submitted to Austraining - 23 March 2012
      • ELIGIBILITY
      • Submit application ONLINE by the deadline.
      • Have Australian citizenship or permanent residency ( CERTIFIED documentary evidence required).
      • • Currently employed as a teacher in an Australian primary or secondary school in a part-time or full-time position and teaching the language of the nominated study program.
      • • Not have participated in the Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships program in the period 2008-2010 (inclusive) in a program other than Indonesian.
      • Provide relevant supporting documentation (as specified).
      • Agree to a criminal history check (if not done in previous 12 months).
      • PERSONAL DETAILS & SCHOOL DETAILS
      • Please complete all sections and attach requested files ( CERTIFIED copies):
          • - Copy of current passport
          • - Scanned copy of passport sized photo
          • - Evidence of police check
      • If you do not have a current passport, please indicate this and organise it as soon as possible.
      • NB: Have your documentation ready for when you start your application.
    • PROFESSIONAL DETAILS & PREVIOUS IN-COUNTRY EXPERIENCE List details of: - awards/scholarships/prizes - professional memberships - trips/in-country experience in the country of the nominated study program
      • APPLICANT ’S QUALIFICATIONS & TEACHING BACKGROUND
      • Attach scanned CERTIFIED copy of Teacher registration certificate
      • Provide details of qualifications / institution / year completed
      • Attach scanned CERTIFIED transcript of academic record. (If documentary evidence is unavailable, you may need to consider a Statutory Declaration, signed before a Justice of the Peace).
      • APPLICANT ’S LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
      • Applicants are required to self rate their written language and oral language proficiency.
      • Preference may be given to teachers who have completed at least two years ’ tertiary language study of the target language or equivalent.
      • Preference may also be given to those teaching the language at least 0.5 time / with limited in-country experience.
      • DEFINITION OF NATIVE SPEAKER
      • Successfully completed secondary education in language
      • First language speaker
      • ISLPR 5*
      *ISLPR = International Second Language Proficiency Ratings
      • ADVANCED
      • Successfully completed undergraduate major/ postgraduate study in language
      • Significant in-country experience or training in the language
      • ISLPR 4
      • INTERMEDIATE
      • Successfully completed at least two years ’ tertiary study or equivalent in language
      • ISLPR 3
      • ELEMENTARY
      • Successfully completed one year tertiary study in language or equivalent
      • ISLPR 2
      • BEGINNING
      • Successfully completed less that six months tertiary study in language or equivalent
      • ISLPR 1-
      • SELECTION CRITERIA
      • ADDRESS ALL THE SELECTION CRITERIA :
      • Each of the criteria is given the same weighting.
      • You are strongly advised to consider the prompts for each of the criteria in formulating your responses.
      • Limit your responses to the stipulated number of characters per sub-heading.
      • NB: Count spaces and punctuation in the number of characters.
      • WHAT TO AVOID
      • Shopping lists of things you have done without comment about how these have impacted on your teaching and learning program.
      • Writing information that is not clear and succinct.
      • Writing responses that are likely to be the same as those of others. Strive to impress but be honest!
      • SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ’S ENDORSEMENT on school letterhead, scanned and then uploaded
      • Comments on applicant ’s suitability against the selection criteria:
        • - benefits to the students and the school community of the applicant participating in this national professional learning opportunity
        • - applicant’s ability to participate effectively in a group
        • - support school will provide.
      • Verification that the applicant’s information is true & correct.
      • Confirmation that the applicant is currently employed as a teacher in the principal’s school and teaching the language of the study program for which they are applying.
      • Give plenty of time for QUALITY input. The principal ’s statement carries considerable weight.

      • FINAL ADVICE
      • This process is highly competitive.
      • Panel members consider applications independently as one layer of selection. Please avoid acronyms.
      • Significant parts of the application are scored points. These points are used to determine the names of the designated number of applicants we recommend at state level along with reserves. (eg 10 plus 5)
