  6. 6. access joy Live your Life with Ease, Joy and Passion Breath: Your Gift of LifeBreathing Techniques “Rhythm to Soothe Anxiety” Breathe in long, slow and deeply through your nose, focusing your attention on receiving this breath as the Gift of Life. • *Relax your abdomen allowing it to gently expand, and then notice this same expansion into your chest. As you release the breath, feeling all the air moving out gently pull in your abdominal muscles to help empty your lungs. • Breathe in a rhythm of 2 beats for the in-breath and 4 beats for the out- breath, exhaling twice as long as your inhale. • *Inhale: 1 & 2& • *Exhale: 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & Follow your breath, mentally counting, or reciting a repetition that eases your mind, for example: • Inhale thinking: “Life comes to me” • Exhale thinking: “ Releasing tension and worry” Continue for 10 breaths or more, allowing the breath to come to you, and then allowing it to leave you, making room for your very next Gift of Life.

Each session incorporates breath rhythms, movements and postures, tools for relieving stiffness, weakness, anxiety, negative thinking, and lethargy. In Kundalini Yoga, (Yoga of Awareness), the goal is to move energy. Through this ancient, holistic practice we naturally become aware, learning how to channel or direct energy (emotion), rather than suppressing it.
