  • 1. Songs of the majority of Lithuanian folk music. Voice tone expresses the deepest human emotions. Lithuanian folk songs are tender, lyrical and often sad. Text reflects the views of nature, lives of wild animals and birds. Songs are sung by the orphans' tragic fate, hard toil of the farmer, and gentle maidens Lad emotions Lots of comparison appear in folk songs. Human life is compared to plants’, especially trees, life.
  • 2. • Lithuanian folk songs and rhythms are quite complex. They’re like an alive story, constantly changing and running away. It is quite difficult to write as frequently changing the meter, the rich pause. These are the main features of Lithuanian folk songs, reflecting only their distinctive mood and character.

World Lithuanian Song and Dance Festival • The Lithuanian Folk Song and Dance Festival is a major cultural event of the nation attracting thousands of dancers and many more spectators from around the world. The Festival is held every four years in the capital city of Vilnius. The First Festival was organised in Kaunas in 1937.
