akämah sarva-kämo vä moksha-käma udära-dhih tivrena bhakti-yogena yajeta purusham param A person who has broader intelligence, whether he be full of all material desire, without any material desire, or desiring liberation, must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead. After supper Krishna & Balarama come to
bid“good night” to Akrura
Krishna asks …
How is Kamsa dealing with his friends?
How are my relatives?
What are Kamsa’s plans?
Krishna tells Akrura that his presence
is welcome
Krishna enquires from Akrura
Krishna recollects the past
My father went through so many tribulations
Because I was his Son he lost his other sons
Kamsa is the greatest anachronism
Akrura reveals Kamsa’s intentions
Akrura narrated all the stories regarding Kamsa
Including Kamsa’s plan to kill Vasudeva
He related what happened when Narada
disclosed that Krishna was Vasudev’s Son
How Narada met Kamsa
He told Kamsa about Krishna’s transfer to
Gokul just after His birth
And also that Krishna killed all the demons
he sent
Purpose of Akrura’s visit to Vrindavan
To take Krishna back to Mathura
On hearing Kamsa’s plans
Balarama and Krishna mildly
laughed
Nanda Maharaja starts for Mathura
On Krishna’s word, Nanda Maharaj immediately calls for the cowherd boys
Taking lots of milk and milk preparations, They are to set out for Mathura.
Nanda Maharaja tells the police chief to invite the villagers for Dhanur Yagna
Plight of the Gopis
Overwhelmed with anxiety
Aggrieved, faces turned black
Begin to breathe warmly, palpitations of the heart
Imminent separation from Krishna
Stop all work as if called forth to die
Hair loosens when they hear that Akrura is
taking Krishna away
Some immediately faint due to separation
from Krishna
Overwhelmed with grief
They remember …
His attractive smile
His sweet words
His characteristics
How he moves about in Vrindavan
His joking words
Assemble with heavy beating hearts
With tears in their eyes, remembering Krishna, they begin to converse
Providence is cruel, Krishna is cruel, Akrura (means not cruel) is cruel!
We have left everything for Krishna and He is now neglecting us
Gopis imagine the scene in Mathura
Great functions in Mathura city
Krishna would pass through the streets.
Different communities of Yadu dynasty
expecting the arrival of Krishna
The beautiful girls of Mathura would look from
the balconies.
Gopis feel threatened.
Krishna will be controlled by them and forget us.
Gopis condemn Akrura’s activities
Akrura is taking away dearest Krishna.
He did not inform or comfort them.
Krishna is already seated on the chariot.
He is neither intelligent nor civilized.
Krishna and the cowherd men are callous.
They are yolking the bulls for the journey.
Elders are merciless.
They don’t stop Krishna from going.
Even the demigods are unkind.
They don’t impend Krishna’s departure.
Gopis cry all night
Pray for natural disturbances
Decide to personally stop Krishna
How can we forget Krishna our life and soul?
Every evening Krishna would return home
His smiling face is covered with godhuli.
He plays on His flute and looks on kindly.
If He leaves, we cannot live.
O Dear Damodara! Dear Madhava!
Gopis surround the Chariot
Akrura starts for Mathura on the chariot with Krishna and Balarama.
Nanda Maharaja and the cowherd boys follow.
Gopis surround the chariot and look at Krishna with pitiable eyes.
Krishna is very much affected by the plight of the Gopis.
His duty is to start for Mathura.
It has been foretold by Narada.
Krishna consoles the Gopis
They should not grieve.
He would soon return.
He has to finish some business.
But, the Gopis did not disperse.
The chariot leaves Vrindavana
The chariot proceeds towards the west, the minds of the Gopis follow.
They watch the chariot until only the dust of the chariot could be seen.
They stood still as if like painted pictures.
Gopis remember Krishna
They decide Krishna is not
returning soon.
With disappointed hearts, they
return home.
They simply think of Krishna
day and night.
In this way, they derive
some consolation.
Akrura visits Vishnuloka within the Yamuna
Krishna & Balarama bathe in Yamuna.
Akrura takes permission to bathe.
While chanting Gayatri mantra,
Akrura sees Krishna Balarama in
the Yamuna waters.
Confused, he rushes to the chariot
and finds Them sitting as before.
Goes back to the Yamuna and this
time sees Lord Krishna as
Maha Vishnu & Lord Balarama as
Sesha NAga
Lord surrounded by Lord Brahma,
Lord Shiva, Prahlad, Narada,
4 Kumaras & other heavenly denizens
Description of Maha Vishnu
Very pleasing, raised nose, broad forehead, reddish lips
Long arms, high shoulders, broad chest, deep navel, broad waist
Toes like lotus petals , dazzling nails
Decorated with valuable jewels
Palms like lotus flowers, held
emblems of Vishnu MUrthi
Chest marked with Srivatsa
Although overwhelmed, Akrura
bows down and begins to
offer prayers in a faltering voice.
