Indra knew Krishna’s supreme position but could not believe Krishna’s human-ness. God’s supremacy is multi-faceted. Position of Avatara
    • Thought no one could be more powerful than him within the universe Krishna is powerful when within or beyond universe. His supremacy is never compromised. nāhaḿ prakāśaḥ sarvasya yoga-māyā-samāvṛtaḥ mūḍho 'yaḿ nābhijānāti loko mām ajam avyayam (BG 7.25) I am never manifest to the foolish and unintelligent. For them I am covered by My internal potency, and therefore they do not know that I am unborn and infallible. Indra’s pride is destroyed - humble
    • Indra’s Prayers Puffed up – ahankara – felt offended by Krishna’s stopping Indra-yajna Devatas offered oblations But Vishnu mantra has to be chanted and yajna-purusha pleased as the sole benefactor. AntaryAmi Krishna is Supreme Personality of Godhead Tattva has to be properly understood – Lord and devatAs have to be understood in terms of tattva. Krishna’s position is vishuddha-sattvam above even mundane goodness
