  4. 4. Hoplites <ul><li>Regular foot soldiers were called hoplites </li></ul><ul><li>They were named after the Hoplon (the large round shield that protects the soldier from the front). </li></ul>Hoplon

  6. 6. So what did they have?? <ul><li>They usually provided their own weapons, but on occasion the polis would help suit the soldier for battle! </li></ul><ul><li>Look the worksheet that shows the accessories a hoplite carries! </li></ul>
