2. I have a bachelors degree in Exercise Science
from Carthage College where I played
football and baseball
I played three years of minor league baseball
before starting my career
I am now a physical education teacher and a
college baseball coach at Lawrence University
I own my own baseball facility called Over
the Wall Baseball Academy

possibly compete again in other amateur

3. The last research paper I wrote was for
Functional Biomechanics.
I discussed the muscles of the core and
how they can help reduce the risk of

4. My experience with presenting has
become more involved of late. The past
two years I have been presenting to
parents, school board members, and
district administrators about the
importance of weight training in our
athletic programs and proper nutrition for
our students and our athletes.

5. I presented to the board to help fund
renovation projects for our fitness center.
I presented at our co-curricular meetings
to parents about physical education
classes being important for learning and
developing our minds and our bodies.
I presented at area businesses to their
employees on nutrition and strength
training to stay healthy and decrease
medical costs.
6. This summer I was asked to present at
Focused Fitness Summer Institute which
is a national conference in Spokane
Washington. I presented on progressions
that will help our students see success no
matter what skill level. I also presented
on PBIS and how we can offer rewards for
good behavior and work ethic and then
offer interventions to students who
struggle to meet their goals.
7. If I had to choose a research topic right now
it would be the affects of de-load training or
inconsistent training on strength.
We have issues of buy-in from our coaches as
far as allowing their athletes to continue to
strength train during their seasons

weights is in the summer

8. What I am looking forward to in this class
is learning about how to properly conduct
research. We are in the age of data
collection and that is one of the main
things both as a physical educator and a
strength and conditioning coach I am
trying to use to help advocate for more
involvement of students and their coaches
in our program.
