The Beginning <ul><li>Cleveland Browns began in 1946 in the All-American Football Conference (AAFC) </li></ul><ul><li>8 teams in the AAFC: Brooklyn, Buffalo, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Cleveland </li></ul><ul><li>Won the first AAFC Championship against New York Yankees 14-7 </li></ul>
  • 3. <ul><li>The Browns made 10 AAFC Playoff Appearances </li></ul><ul><li>1956 had their first losing season, ended in fourth place with a 5-7 record </li></ul><ul><li>Received fullback Jim Brown in ‘57, who was a huge addition to the team </li></ul>
  • 4. <ul><li>1961 Art Modell purchases the Cleveland Browns franchise </li></ul><ul><li>The Browns trade Bobby Mitchell for Heisman winner Running Back Ernie Davis </li></ul>
