• Students must choose one subject from each of five groups (1 to 5)

• Students may choose either an arts subject from group 6, or a
second subject from groups 1 to 5.
5. IB Diploma Program Core
• Extended essay:
– Independent research through an in-depth study of a
question relating to one of the DP subjects
• Theory of knowledge:
– A course on critical thinking
• Creativity, action, service (CAS):
– A range of activities alongside their academic studies
6. IB Diploma Assessment
• Written examinations at the end of the program.
• Marks awarded for each course (1 to 7). Highest total = 45
– 7 x 6 courses = 42 points
– 3 points: 1 points each from the three IB diploma program core
• Expected IB score can be submitted to your university
application.
• HL courses may be transferred to university for credits.
– McGill: HL courses with score about 5; Max. credit limit of 30
7. Degree in Economics
• Specialties:
• Industrial economics, organizational economics, monetary
economics, financial economics, international economics, labor
economics, health economics, environmental economics,
econometrics and etc.
• Possible Career Path:
– Economists (Private industry, government, academia, and business)
– Work in closely related fields, including Business, finance, or
insurance: Ex. Consultant, FinancialAnalyst, Public Policy Analyst
– Others: Law School or Master/PhD in other disciplines?
